The Art of a Thriller Halloween

I just love Halloween! So my post is late but I'm busy working full-time, working on my new jewelry collection as well as being the best mom, partner & friend I can be. I have been wanting to do this couples costume idea for 3 years but my man wasn't down to do it. Boo to him! Good thing I have another man that will do it; although unwillingly...my son.;-) I know Halloween is for the kids, so not to take away from what my son wanted to be I asked that we compromise so Mommy could just check this costume idea off her list. Fair enough?

This was a DIY project as blue leopard print (when in need) seems more difficult to come by. I lucked up and found some inexpensive leggings on ebay as I had exhausted my search online and in thrift stores deciding to order two pairs of the leggings to use one to attach on my jean jacket.

Simply applying glue and safety pins because I was too lazy to break out the sewing machine.

                                              VOILA! OLA RAY of THRILLER is reborn!

My son, like every other boy in the world wanted to be a superhero "Superman" and I told him that was boring everyone is superman you have to be Michael Jackson. Was I wrong for saying that? LOL I figured if I show him the thriller video I think he could get into this Thriller themed Halloween with me. Well, he got into it enough to only do the dance but as you can see from the pictures he wasn't feeling the costume so much.

The Art of an Open-See

Today Henri Bendel's held an Open-See call from 9AM-12PM for designers to share their precious works in hopes of getting a big break into the fashion industry. I of course attended and waited in line like everyone else as if we were auditioning for American Idol. I awoken from my slumber at 4AM and arrived at Bendel's by 6:30AM where there was a line of approximately 50 people waiting to meet the Buyers. Not too bad of a place in line however, the waiting in the cold for 3 hours was brutal. That's what I get for trying to be cute in my tights and shorts.

All of us hopefuls had our luggage filled with our collections of either Jewelry, handbags, accessories, fragrances and even cookies. I meet a few cool individuals and we were able to practice our pitch to one another. There was a lot that I learned from this experience that has prepared me and I am grateful for this day.

It's that time of year again! Fashion's Night Out September 10, 2010 NYC style. If you aren't in NY at the time don't fret my pet...you can check out the hundreds of NYC retailers online and see if they will be selling their FNO collection online. Hey, it's worth trying! Anyhow, the flyer above is for an FNO event at Callalilai. One designer will be sharing her fall 2010 collection while I will have a few paintings on display (and also for sell) along with my jewelry. :-) Stop by if you're in the area if not...well, I guess you will just have to see when I post online.
