The Art of Friendship

My friend Shauna Khorrami a news anchor in Las Vegas wore jewelry I handmade for her today on her morning show. It's one of a kind like she is. Shauna and I met a few years ago when I was assisting one of the top News Agents as I did not want to become an agent I decided to leave my 5 year invested career to pursue fashion. I have been making jewelry since 1998. I can say I have made it earlier on as a child when I got little bead kits for my birthday or Christmas. Shauna and I would talk about how we wanted to be successful in all we love doing and vowed that whoever made it first would help the other out. Well, she has kept her word and I now have more to add to my press-kit. Big thank you to you Shauna! Three years ago she and I were at Fred Segal in LA and she pushed me to talking to the associates and getting the buyers info as she insisted they need to have my jewelry in their store. LOL

The Art of a Happy Halloween after Hurricane Sandy.

I planned to dress up as Kitty Soft Paws when taking my little Puss in Boots trick-or-treating then come home and costume change into Black Swan Queen and go out with friends. The Hurricane botched those plans and I just took my son to a block party for kids not too far from home. Since I put the most into ordering pieces for the Swan Queen costume I did not want it to go to waste. Puss in Boots was made by my cousin Pat in California. :-)

What a sour puss!

This kid was Chinese Take-Out. Very creative!

It's a hot dog! lol My friend dressed her dog up.

The Art of Hurricane Sandy

Stuck indoors with work and school closed today; my son and I are being productive anyway. I like to talk in riddles sometimes. lol While I am working on my jewelry business, you know all the fun stuff like line sheets and lookbooks he is writing his letters on a dry erase board and saying, "Mommy look! W!" He then wants to pose next to his fabulous handwriting very proud like I must add. I am pleased to encourage this interest of his any day!

The Art of A Warrior Princess

I was inspired by accessory designer Seville Michelle Anastos and decided to make this piece. If you don't know who she is you might know of her design in Beyonce's - Run The World (Girls) video. I am not selling this piece as this is someone else's idea I just wanted to make it for myself as I love how it has a warrior princess command. I have no problem giving others credit especially when they are entitled to it. As a designer myself I expect the same in return.

The Art of Balance.

After talking with friends about life and being a working mom, I have to admit it is quite a challenge to do it all. I find myself drifting a lot from one thing to another...my focus needs to be corrected. I allowed doubt and excuses to put things off but there is no room for that in my life. I am surrounded by people that encourage me and set great examples. Everyday I am inspired by people like my friend Leslie who is a mother of 3 and has managed to be consistent and dedicated to her blog. Not only that, Leslie has created a way for other bloggers all over to collaborate and support one another. This builds a since of community and encouragement. I feel me having one child can't even compare. I am eternally grateful for people who stop at nothing to pursue their goals and do a damn good job at it. Here is to being up for the challenge and putting my best foot forward everyday. I am not putting myself down in anyway as I know I have had some amazing accomplishments. The fact of the matter is acknowledging what needs improvement as I strive for perfection in my ability to balance. #BLMGirl

The Art of The Vote.

As we approach election day it is crucial for us all to watch this docu-series. Two friends of mine, a brother and sister team are founders of Barack the Vote. All of their hard work has paid off tremendously as they are included in BET's docu-series. They are an inspiration to me and I'm sure many others to be the voice for the youth in politics while setting a business example. They give entrepreneurs like myself hope for a better tomorrow.
